Press Releases

The month of Dhul-Hijjah represents a time in which millions across the world fulfill their final pillar of faith in Makkah, taking the pilgrimage of Hajj.

Today marks the 10th day and a time for celebration with Eid-ul- Adha (Festival of Sacrifice). Over a billion Muslims across the world will come together with their families, friends and communities to share food and give thanks, reflecting on the importance of this time.

FOSIS President, Zara Mohammed said ‘This month marks a time to contemplate the nature of sacrifice in our time; just as Islam teaches us to give in charity and support those suffering all around us,  we ask ourselves how are we bettering our communities and putting aside our differences. This month also marks the beginning of hundreds of thousands of students beginning a new journey to University across the UK & Eire.  We pray for their success and for a positive start to the year inshaAllah'

She further added, 'Let us not also forget the millions displaced across the world with the refugee crisis and many conflicts around the world,  some will spend this Eid with much uncertainty of their future,  let us pray for their goodness too'
